NADINE FARAJ is an artist invested in learning how healing transformation comes about. In her fluid, raunchy and sometimes humorous watercolours, figures emerge as deeply psychological beings with a full sense of their humanity. Recently, her works have addressed social issues such as sex and body positivity, feminism, antiracism and LGBTQI+ visibility.
Her artworks have been discussed in The Huffington Post, Hyperallergic, A Woman’s Thing Magazine, Le Devoir, La Presse, CBC News, Elephant,Huck and The Steidz. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Montreal’s Concordia University and a Master of Fine Arts from New York’s School of Visual Arts. Since 2020 she has been a member of Rizoma bringing art and poetry workshops to women who are incarcerated.
Faraj exhibits her art regularly in Canada, the US and the UK; she is represented by McBride Contemporain and Anna Zorina Gallery. Faraj lives and works in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal and Mannahatta/New York City, unceded lands of the Kanien’kehá:ka and Lenape respectively.
