HOLDEN WILLARD is a multi-disciplinary artist born in 1999 in Maine, USA. He received his BFA in Painting from Montserrat College of Art in 2021. Holden’s work strives to portray the experience of everyday life in the Maine countryside through the lens of friends and family, while creating a dialogue between the past, present, and future.
As an artist, Holden is fascinated with capturing a subject's soul and energy. His work, therefore, primarily deals with the figure and its interaction within space. Always considering how light and movement translate to colors, Willard's paintings portray the energy that his subjects radiate within their surroundings. His blurry, expressive, liberated, yet cohesive use of color allows him to depict human emotions in a soft but powerful way. That notion is also related to the artist’s interest in portraying how dreams might feel if one were to paint them.
